Again, Fifth & Pacific ………..
Doesn’t the name sound like any ordinary department store private label……..Well it’s not. It’s the new new name for Liz Claiborne Inc. the group that owns Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand, & Kate Spade. The name change was created as Liz Claiborne Inc. continues to make small steps in becoming a more profitable company, and in a desperate attempt to re brand the Liz Claiborne name. There is either much or little confusion to anyone who knows the real Liz. The real Liz was a Belgian born woman who was awesome because she started her own brand (LizClaiborneInc.) and made it amazingly profitable and great. She sold upscale woman’s fashions in the 80’s and became the first woman to be a CEO of a Fortune 500 company (amazing!) But the Liz I ever knew was a really really low scale brand that was just plain, boring, and meant for woman in their 50’s +. But today she is no longer part of her own company as the Liz Claiborne brand is only sold in JCpenney stores, and really has nothing to do with Liz Claiborne Inc. So long story short it is important for both brands to finally differentiate themselves and not have poor Kate Spade & her $400 handbags in the same sentence as Liz. . The change takes place around May 15.
